The registrar has now deleted your ownership, and the domain is being prepared for auction. To get it back now, you must pay a Redemption Fee plus the renewal cost. This fee is usually hefty—often between $100 and $250.
Stage 3: Pending Delete (60-65 Days)
Status: Gone.
Once the domain hits "Pending Delete," it is game over. You cannot renew it. You cannot pay a fee. You just have to wait.
After 5 days, the domain is released back to the public. Anyone in the world can buy it.
The "Drop Catching" Danger
You might think: "I'll just wait for it to delete and then buy it again for $10!"
Do not do this.
There are automated bots called "Drop Catchers." They scan for expiring domains with good history. The millisecond your domain drops, these bots will buy it instantly to resell it back to you for thousands of dollars.
